Safety Director/Training

Martin's Window Cleaning Corp. (MWCC) has been doing business in Houston and surrounding areas since 1975, with dedication to safety and service. As a member of the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) Board of Directors and as an officer, MWCC continually strives to improve the safety and professionalism of the window cleaning industry throughout the world.

SAFETY IS OUR BUSINESS

Our highly trained crews, with an average of 15 years experience, are committed to a

safe and healthful work environment. MWCC's nationally renowned Safety & Training

Program managed by Safety Director, Cassandra Huffman and Operations Vice

President,  Martin Esqueda is recognized as a leader in making our industry a safer

one for our employees and our customers, through the introduction of some of the

most stringent and carefully laid out safety and training procedures.

To achieve these stringent safety objectives it is essential that our employees be

trained and continually motivated to assume responsibility for their own safety, the

safety of their co-workers and the prevention of loss to property.

 Our safety agenda includes:
   - documented daily equipment inspections
   - the
use of video training
   - extensive hands-on experience
   - documented regularly scheduled safety meetings
   - continuing classroom instructions
   - daily inspection of all job sites

Our program, conducted in both English and Spanish, is designed to control hazards

to life and property and to comply with governmental regulations. Representatives of

our company have testified as expert witnesses before the OSHA in the rewriting and

updating of the OSHA specifications that govern our industry.

Ms. Huffman sits on the following National Consensus Standards Writing Committees:
   - ASME A120.1 Safety Requirements for Powered Platforms - Building Maintenance
   - IWCA I-14.1    General Industry Safety Standard for Window Cleaning

"A genuine commitment to create an atmosphere where all employees actively care for

each other and a desire to maintain an on going incident/injury free environment is a

vision that is shared by all employees of MWCC and lead to Ms. Huffman's

appointment as Safety Director. This vision requires constant coaching, the willingness

to be coached, and the courage to take the risk of making what others say is

 impossible, a reality."

Martin's Window Cleaning Corp. (MWCC) is committed to a safe and healthful work environment.  We are recognized as a leader in making our industry a safer one for our employees and our customers, through the introduction of some of the most stringent and carefully laid out safety and training procedures.  Representatives of our company have testified as expert witnesses before OSHA in the rewriting and updating of the OSHA specifications that govern our industry, and have been an advocate of window cleaning safety for many years, working closely with IREM's Legislative Committee and International BOMA’s Government Affairs Committee.

MWCC is a Committee member and participates in the writing of the following national consensus standards for window cleaning:

ANSI/IWCA I-14.01-2001 Window Cleaning Safety Standard  (founding member)

ASME A120 Safety Requirements for Powered Platforms

Martin's dedication to safety lead to the hiring of a full time Safety Director, whose responsibility is to inspect the rigging of all job sites, inform building owners and mangers of the need for proper anchorage on their buildings, and to conduct monthly safety meetings with the window cleaners, keeping them abreast of the latest industry developments. The window cleaners are certified on all the equipment they use and have been trained in self rescue, fall arrest and fall protection; they also attend training seminars.

It is essential that our employees be trained and continually motivated to assume responsibility for their own safety, the safety of their co-workers and the prevention of loss to property.  Our in-house training program includes the use of video training, "hands on" experience, and regularly scheduled safety meetings and equipment checks.  This program is designed to control hazards to life and property and to comply with governmental regulations, and safety codes and standards.

“As the Safety Director for Martin’s Window Cleaning Corporation, my responsibility is to stay abreast of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and

standards as they apply to window cleaning, transfer that information through our safety and training program to our employees, insure that all applicable codes, regulations,

and standards are being applied on every job site through periodic inspections, and assure our customers through written and verbal communications that our operations

are in compliance.  It is the goal of Martin’s Window Cleaning Corp. to partner with our customers to provide sound, identified, certified roof anchors on every job site.”
